Castaway Cay, Bahamas- Tug of War

Image
The Board Shorts Gave Us The Edge This private island in the Bahamas, is a Disney Cruise Line port of call. In answer to the question: "When Is The Copy Better Than The Original?" This would be it. The sand has been sifted to a fine white powder. The mosquitoes  are nowhere to be found. The water is crystal clear and turquoise blue. Paradise found. Escape TO reality. I am not talking about staged authenticity, like my visit to Papette Tahiti. Most designers spend their time creating shopping malls. Re-creating the island paradise, however, is admirable. Once used as a stop for drug smugglers.Think “Snow White” or “White Snow” . There is an airstrip on the island, but it is no longer in regular use nor maintained (I shot some video on July 4,2012, a previous visit) .It's unusual isolation becomes, in its own way, a paradise-somewhere in the Bahamas. It is not Gilligan's Island but it has also been used for filming; the beach where Tom Hanks first encounter...

Cozumel- Any Fin Is Possible

The Aquatic Life Sitting is the new  Smoking of our generation. Yet, Meditation, the new  Push Up. The OCD tourists (Above) drowns in the same ocean that the ADDitude traveler (Below) swims with delight. The hyper organized Intentional Traveler, complete with checklists, sunscreen and "travel clothes"verses Lite Traveler, on  a shoe string budget and the shirt  off/on his your back. The sum of my  problems is the inability to sit quietly alone in a deck chair on a ship! It is easy to mistake motion for progress and nothing is so big and complicated that it cannot be run away from.  I know what to do-swim with my friends the dolphins. Nothing Is The Hardest Thing To Do. No massive massive 110 day world cruise  emotional and sensory overload---just the repetitive itineraries of The Caribbean Blue Life In Time WYSIWYG-What you see is what you get- I do not create the Caribbean blue ocean, the white powder sandy beaches. Grand Cayman-Scaling Back on The Fish

Carpe Diem- Seize The Fish The fish symbolize happiness, for they have complete freedom in the water. That's worthy of a kiss! WIldlife Conservation Fund Onboard The Magic Any fin is possible if you don't trout yourself! If you can think of a better island for fish, let minnow Oh My Cod! last month Island Princess (left)The Panama Canal  Disney Magic Now (right) Water holds endless mystery to me  because  –it represents WYSIWYG:certainly there, but cannot be seen. The fish has quite a good track record in mythology and religion---fertility eternity creativity, femininity, good luck, happiness, knowledge, transformation. "Bless Me Father For I Have Had An Awesome Life" Putting the  sin  back into sincere, I decided to step into the English speaking Confessional to receive 'penance,' the place where sins are forgiven. The basic requirement for a good confession is to have the intention of returning to God like the ...

Earthlings,Please Don’t Feed The Tourists

Tree Calendars in New Zealand  like pages in a diary. We live at the bottom of a deep gravity well, on the surface of a gas covered planet going around a nuclear fireball 90 million miles away and we think this to be normal? Happy Earth Day, as I have said before: Why do they call it Planet Earth when it is clearly ALL ocean. Well, come to think of  it, it's the trees, and Nature: I Shrink Therefore I am - I feel so small, when these mega waterfalls , glaciers and forests come in my view: I posted on these happy spots: Alaska ,   Norway, South Pacific , New Zealand , but Hawaii has an Über special  place in my heart.  Read More at   It's Called The Big Island Not The Tiny Island This is a conversation between Sarah Kennedy And when the sky was painted with stars, and she was spotting landmarks out like the  southern cross- in another hemisphere- in a  land down under. KENNEDY: I was born in Zambia. We lived in a kind of Garden of Eden in C...

Gulf of Mexico- The Wake Doesn't Drive The Boat

Image
I didn't invent the hypothetical situation, but let's just suppose for a second that I did, that I was sailing on  a ship, and had an "existential" moment, a little flash of sunlight on a cobalt blue sea.  Nothing really happens in the past, Everything that’s ever happened /for/to me happened in the present moment. That’s all there ever is. So my relationship to life isn’t my  relationship to my past, it’s my relationship to the present moment. Who would I be without my story (past)? If you don't have one, you don't have to live up to it. What's left then--Just Now. That's the value proposition of travel: It's a come as you are affair. "I have crossed the seas, I have left cities behind me, and I have followed the source of rivers towards their source or plunged into forests, always making for other cities. I have had women, I have fought with men; and I could never turn back any more than a record can spin in reverse. And all that was leading...
