Fair Isle Sketchbook: Weaving Words & Wool
π Fair Isle Flip Book
A Journey to Britain's Most Remote Inhabited Island

Fair Isle is a lyrical reminder to break the momentum of busyness that fuels the sadness of never understanding ourselves. It makes a place to sit down. So: Sit down. Be quiet... The impulse to create begins in a tunnel of silence.

π Travel vs. Accomplishment
Travel is an activity not an accomplishment, yet lately, because of the global pandemic, one of the great cruelties and great glories of traveling nowadays is the wild discrepancy of timelines between vision and execution.
When we dream up an itinerary, we invariably underestimate the amount of time and effort required to make it a reality. Our Fair Isle return took 6 months!

⏰ Time Moves Differently Here
On Fair Isle, life operates by natural law rather than human schedule. Weather determines travel, daylight shapes work, and seasons dictate the rhythm of daily existence.
Natural rhythms that modern life so often obscures
The impulse to create begins in a tunnel of silence. Fair Isle provides that tunnel - a place where the noise of the world fades, and what remains is what was always there: yourself, waiting to be discovered.
π Your Journey Continues
This flip book may end, but the Fair Isle story continues. Follow along as Ed, Sarah, and Skyelark share their ongoing adventures from Britain's most remote inhabited island.
From pages to reality, from silence to story
