Bermuda, Bahama, come on pretty mamma. Another week at sea onboard the Disney Magic. It all starts on embarkation day here in Texas.

Cozumel-Legal Tender

Image
Like suburban California without Los Angry Cars. Self Employment sometimes made harder by difficult boss- "I am not a businessman, I am a business, man!" That's what the locals are doing here $elling everything- It's a pain in the English. Cozumel  locals speak English as a second language. Money is their first one.

Miner For A Heart of Gold-Sow What You Reap

Image
And it goes like this... Finding Alaska is easy. My eyes mint gold. Nothing shines so brightly. The scenery  paints itself. I'm just the middleman.  You can't create experiences like this, you undergo them. You can mine for gold or you can sell pickaxes Being born in the US is like being kidnapped and sold into  entrepreneurship   on Planet Pick Axe. My universe is made of stories, not atoms: land, air and sea travel and the power of now. If I wanted to be a multinational soul, and  monetize  my best asset,me, I couldn't do it in cities where I taught English like New York or Los Angeles, Paris or Tokyo alone-I needed to get consecrated by sailing on the oceans. It's a wonderful thing to get rid of everything and everybody and just go some place where you don't know anyone; where, as Melville said,"God's one and only voice is Silence." All Ashore-Traquility Base, The Ego Has Landed Skagway Today Living on a ship, might be summed up as monotony...

An I For An Island

Image
The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes I thought of my job as Art Director  as leading people to those moments of awe – that ephiphany  that overtakes you when you encounter a new idea, or place.  There is no doubt about it, the exhilarating state of mind that travel can evoke, when everything seems suddenly fresh, vivid, intensely interesting, and memorable. It's rare when  the mode of transportation - The Oasis of the Seas - to get you to these places usurps the destination. This was April 2012 and it did.

Fiji Islands-Savusavu-Cue The Sun

Image
Natural, Lush and Beautiful,Where the hell's Fiji? Near Texas? You can't get any further away before you start coming back. Imagine sailing across the blue waters of the South Pacific, passing by idylic islands, teeming with exotic fish and majestic coral reefs.Oh wait I don't have to use my imagination because my actual perceptions of these events is the event. Bula. Cloudy today with a chance of paradise

Cozumel-Un Mundo Nuevo

Image
It is renowned for having the 2nd largest reef in the world and some of the most spectacular diving & snorkeling in Mexico but I am on land chasing the Carnival Miracle out of New York, first, taking a ferry to Playa Del Carmen, then a shuttle to Cancun Airport. The Documentary of Cozumel that Cousteau Never made In 1955, Jacques-Yves Cousteau made a 1 hour 23 ... a TV special that  launched Cozumel's diving industry. Yet,  none of the footage was shot in Mexico, according to the   Costeau society. They  say that     Le Monde du Silence is confused with another guy from Sea Hunt and Flipper fame, Rene Cordova  who shot Un Mundo Nuevo. The story got repeated so many times, however,  it has become fact, even by me! Now I know why  Jacques Cousteau, legendary ocean explorer, called it the "best diving area in the world."....  I blogged and youtube'd   about it, and it's even been set to music  in John De...

Eco(n) Tourism in The Cayman Islands

Image
Dating Outside My Species Gimme Shelter Welcome To The AmeriCON Tax Code- "My Other Home's A Yacht" Deduction  Last time I was here, I kissed a stingray . Today,  I’m kissing the ring of  the Popes of Loopholes, Grand Cayman  Banksters, and their patron saints of  evasion, the Plutocrats. Magic Money Pulled From the Hat! Money  after all, is a prop, and  investment bankers magicians-  Like all wizards, they don't like to show their tricks- Their  greatest one  is the disappearance and reappearance of money. Hocus Pocus Delaware, is  the Cayman Islands of America, but that's like saying Stanford is the Harvard of the West Coast. I had to go to the source and  see it for myself. Cash is anonymous, but like all good magicians, magic is invisible and it's hard to inventory what you can't see. Just ask John Lloyd . So I go from Eco Tourism in Alaska to Eco-nomics  Tourist  here today. Derivatives, Short Sa...
