Running the Chalk Headlands
Running by the chalk headlands in Southern England - what an impressive coastline!
The dramatic white cliffs of Beachy Head rise majestically from the English Channel,
creating one of the most spectacular running routes in the world.
The Dangerous Edge
⚠️ From the top of the hills, you could easily lose your footing, and the talc erodes constantly with rainfall
The cliff edges are both beautiful and treacherous. The white chalk constantly erodes with rainfall,
making the footing unpredictable. This time I opted for the beach - a safer choice when facing
these magnificent but dangerous heights.
November 2014 Visit

perspective. Each visit reveals new aspects of this incredible coastline, from the dramatic cliff-top
views to the pristine beaches below.
π The White Cliffs of Beachy Head
Beachy Head is the highest chalk sea cliff in England, rising 162 meters (531 feet) above sea level.
These dramatic white cliffs are part of the South Downs and offer some of the most spectacular coastal
views in Britain. The chalk formed over 100 million years ago continues to shape this ever-changing coastline.
