The Cruising Godfather: Declassified Files

File CG-003 · CapriLimoncello Quest

A hydrofoil, a mountain climb, a rainy island, several wrong turns and one search for liquid gold.

CODE PHRASE

Opening Transmission

I'm gonna make him an offer...

Ed Reif 3.0 Translation

The island made the offer. Twenty-seven euros, a hydrofoil, a mountain climb and a glass of limoncello at the end of the route.

Operational Meaning

The best offers are rarely efficient. They ask for money, weather tolerance, wrong turns, physical effort and a willingness to accept the local version when the celebrity bottle cannot be found.

In Search of Liquid Gold

Taxi Dreams

More Than Just a Ride

The limoncello quest made me think of Taxi, the TV show. A bunch of NYC cabbies doing their job while dreaming of greater things. Sometimes the best journeys happen when you're just trying to get somewhere else.

Alex
"I'm not really a cab driver. I'm just waiting for something better to come along. You know, like death."
Louie
"I know what love is 'cuz' I watch talk shows. Love is the end of happiness!"
"Some men climb mountains, others date 'em!"
Jim
"When I think of me, I smile."

Capri Reflections

Like the characters in Taxi, we're all on our own journeys, dreaming of something better while finding magic in the unexpected moments. Capri teaches us that sometimes the most expensive places offer the most priceless experiences - a rainy day in paradise really is better than a sunny day at the office.

"Oh God, I need a drink of cool cool rain" - Sometimes that's exactly what the soul needs.

A rainy day in Capri is still better than a sunny day at the office.

The hydrofoil departed. The file stayed open. The limoncello was local, which may have been the point.
