Capri, Reign o'er Me
🇮🇹 Capri Limoncello Quest
An Italian Adventure Through the Isle of Dreams

A Rainy day in Capri is better than a sunny day at the office

On the Italian Express
The isle of Capri is as expensive as Oslo, Norway, but the experience is worth every euro. This legendary island in the Bay of Naples has been captivating visitors for centuries with its dramatic cliffs, azure waters, and timeless Italian charm.

🌊 Island Paradise
Capri has been a resort destination since Roman times, when Emperor Tiberius made it his primary residence. Today, it continues to attract celebrities, artists, and travelers seeking the perfect blend of natural beauty and Italian sophistication.
The Hydrofoil from Sorrento
Taking a hydrofoil over from Sorrento, I flew on the water instead of floating. The cost: 27 euros ($60), but the experience of gliding across the sparkling Bay of Naples is priceless.

🚤 The Hydrofoil Experience
The hydrofoil literally lifts above the water, creating a smooth, fast journey across the bay. As you approach Capri, the dramatic limestone cliffs and the famous Faraglioni rock formations come into view, building anticipation for the adventure ahead.
Skipping the Funicular
When I reached port - Marina Piccola - I didn't take the Funicular (a cableway). Instead, I ran up the mountain to get the authentic Capri experience and earn those spectacular views!

🏔️ The Climb Reward
Running up the mountain paths of Capri is challenging but rewarding. Every step higher reveals more breathtaking views of the Mediterranean, and you'll arrive at the Piazzetta with a true sense of accomplishment - and probably needing that limoncello even more!

The Piazzetta Umberto
This great view from The Piazzetta Umberto - the center of the island of Capri for tourists and locals alike. Here's a nice shot of the clock tower in the town square, the beating heart of island life.

🗣️ Speaking with the Amicos
Running back down wasn't as easy. I got lost but it was fun speaking Italian with all these Amicos and Amicas. The warmth and friendliness of the Caprese people make every wrong turn an opportunity for connection and cultural exchange.
In Search of Liquid Gold
L8R, I was on a Limoncello Quest - the Italian lemon liqueur. I wanted to find Louie De Palma, er I mean, Danny DeVito's Limoncello Premium Lemon Liqueur, but I had to settle for the local variety, made in Sorrento from lemons whose trees overlook the Mediterranean.

🌳 From Tree to Bottle
The local Sorrento limoncello is made from lemons grown on terraced groves that have overlooked the Mediterranean for generations. These aren't ordinary lemons - they're sfusato amalfitano, a special variety with incredibly aromatic oils perfect for the finest limoncello.
More Than Just a Ride
The limoncello quest made me think of Taxi, the TV show. A bunch of NYC cabbies doing their job while dreaming of greater things. Sometimes the best journeys happen when you're just trying to get somewhere else.
🌅 Capri Reflections
Like the characters in Taxi, we're all on our own journeys, dreaming of something better while finding magic in the unexpected moments. Capri teaches us that sometimes the most expensive places offer the most priceless experiences - a rainy day in paradise really is better than a sunny day at the office.
"Oh God, I need a drink of cool cool rain" - Sometimes that's exactly what the soul needs.
