Today on Disney's Private Island

This  1000 acres  in the Bahamas, is a Disney Cruise Line port of call. In answer to the question: "When Is The Copy Better Than The Original?" This would be it.

Back In The Saddle 7 years to the date

I am not talking about staged authenticity, like my visits to Papette Tahiti or Aloha Friday in Hawaii. This is the best of the best, an I for an Island. It wasn't always so wholesome.

Once  used as a stop for  smugglers.Think “Snow White” or “White Snow”
There is an airstrip on the island, but it is no longer in regular use nor maintained. It's unusual isolation becomes, in its own way, a paradise-somewhere in the Bahamas..

It is not Gilligan's Island but it has also been used for filming; the beach where Tom Hanks first encounters Daryl Hannah in Splash is on the island.

I feel like I stepped into a time.machine...

Sarah as navigator, my magnetic North and compass
The Eastern and Western Carribean routes. The one thing I enjoy in these parts was/is drinking fresh coconut water. Now it is on the shelves of all the supermercados., but back in 2009, it was old school split-it-open with a machete and serve.

Old San Juan a decade ago on MSC

Next week we will be sailing to Grand Cayman Island......where there is An Embarrassment Of Coconuts

Coo coo for coconuts
Coco Vita is tired, Caymania au natural is wired. Loved by health nuts and Hollywood royalty, coconut water is the "new" health drink. It's almost as good as a blood transfusion, It slows down ageing, smooths your skin; regulates blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol; and it's good for digestive health. Every port of call, I make a habit of drinking some.

Today, I bought a whole quart.

Coconut water is the purest liquid on earth, second only to H20. It's anti-viral, anti-fungal and anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory. This is one of those rare super foods. I am taking The Cure.

Coconut's Magic Puts an Infinite Smile on my face It is full of electrolytes, calcium and magnesium. An average size coconut has more potassium (at about 294 mg) than most sports drinks (117 mg). It stimulates metabolism. Coconut Water has more food value than whole milk; is a Natural Isotonic Beverage - The same level we have in our blood; and, it contains lauric acid, which is present in human mother's milk. Ma Ma Mia!

After two days at sea, our first port of call is Tortola

There is no YES in Yesterday and the longest day of The Weak is Someday. The secret of living your dream instead of your backup plan is-Starting! I Have Had All The Disadvantages Required For a Successful  start on the Hero's Journey, no money, no time, no opportunities.
ONLY Acting AS IF..

DESERVING enormous outcomes is mostly the result of a series of small steps that magically make the invisible visable- that's the science of achievement.  Mine was " I want to travel around the world", and staying at sea for 6 to up to 13 month consecutively is how it "happened" The days went by slowly, but the month fast, and the years even faster.

I re-framed the experience as a sequence of  mini-retirements because it is not a very blue chip thing to do-renouncing the established templates for career fuel and leveling up.

This quasi PT-Permanent Frequent/ Constant Traveler designation seemed natural.  The Peculiar Club had no membership dues. Anyone could join. BLUE OCEAN Cruising around the world, provides a legitimate short cut for taking things with gratitude instead of for granted.

I met a bunch of folks who were/are the unmoored, never dropping anchor too long. They are of an ever growing number of the privileged homeless, where home is a feeling not a place. Our souls are surely from "somewhere else".

Like attracts like and it seems that those who have a sense of wonder and curiosity, choose this option. I take solace and a  comfort to know that there is a world which is purely one’s own — the experience in that world, of travel, danger, happiness, is shared with no one else..yet others are "undergoing" their own version.

I totally "get it". In fact the travel is a backdrop, fish out of water rituals of reassurance that life is bizarre and awesome cruel and kind, and the realization, despite the photos and power spots around the globe, all the significant events of your life take place in your brain.

Neurons that fire together, fire together

The Earth was made round so that we would not see too far down the road but Neurons That Fire Together Wire Together and the best way to predict the future is to INVENT it. There is no absolute grid I live in where things occur independent of my own thinking about them. In the 70's The ME Generation was Old school selfishness--- I am the center of the world. That's tired. My New Wor(l)d Order says, I create the world...and more importantly my thoughts do too. Change your thoughts, change your world. That's Wired Thinking.

The 3pound Universe-Grey Matters

As the brain changes the mind changes, in practical terms each time you repeat a particular thought or action, and "use your marbles", you strengthen the connection between a set of brain cells or neurons

Decisions Are Bets On The Future. Please be nice to your future self-Play the long game.

We live(d) in ambiguity, and make decisions in conditions of uncertainty over time, when living on a ship.

Luck is probability taken personally. It is preperation and opportunity colliding at the right time at the right place doing the right things.

The hardest arithmetic I've had to master is the one which enables me to count my blessings.

There is no doubt about it, the exhilarating state of mind that travel can evoke, when everything seems suddenly fresh, vivid, intensely interesting, and memorable.

We call it planet Earth but it is mostly covered in blue ocean... and you cover a lot more territory by ship. Therefore I highly recommend traveling by sea. You get there faster by plane but you get there farther by ship. As you detect the story line in your own lives: write and tell it to others. It will open up a hidden world of self-discovery and meaning. I know. I have seen it for myself. Follow your bliss, and don't br afraid; doors will open where you would not have thought there would be doors, and where there wouldn't be a door for anyone else.
