Los Angeles-To London in 110 Days-

World Cruise 2011 / Los Angeles to London / 110 Days

Are We Clear—Crystal?

Headed to Oz, then onward around the world: the first leg of a voyage that would turn ports into chapters and distance into a way of life.

Reprint / January 15, 2011

Starting the First Leg Monday

Los Angeles. San Pedro. California. The gangway ahead and a world map waiting to become personal.

The itinerary began in the Pacific, crossed through Oceania and Asia, rounded Africa, and finished in London. On paper it was a sequence of ports. In practice it became 110 days of thresholds.

The $60,000 Question
“Fly a Russian MiG-29 at Mach 2 or take a world cruise in zero gravity—I’ll take things that I know for $60,000, Alex.”

Departure Bearing

Headed to Oz

The old HTML carried the debris of a booking engine: forms, rollovers, translation frames, WebForms calls and duplicate content. The voyage itself needed none of it.

One ship. Forty-three stops. One hundred and ten days.
