Where the Gods Whisper: Fair Isle’s Forgotten Saga
The Geography of Bliss
Finding Joy in Unexpected Places
When the world stopped, we discovered that paradise wasn't about grand cruise ships or exotic destinations - it was about finding bliss in the most remote, unexpected corner of Britain.
Our Geography of Bliss Journey
We waited for 2020 to have that perfect vision. Nobody could predict what we'd be seeing and doing - washing hands, wearing masks, and social distancing because of the global pandemic.
Normally, we would be sailing in the Norwegian Fjords, The Baltics or through Alaska's wildlife super highway, and Glacier Bay. 'Tis the season but all fleets came to a grinding halt.
And then we found Fair Isle, which is like a cargo ship, surrounded by sea. Sometimes the best discoveries happen when all other options disappear.
It was the paradox of our time - the world had stopped, yet we found ourselves in the most extraordinary place, experiencing both the challenge and the joy of remote island living.
We discovered that the geography of bliss isn't about movement across oceans - it's about finding deep contentment in a single, perfect place surrounded by endless sea.
The geography of bliss isn't marked on any cruise itinerary - it's found in the willingness to step into the "terra incognita" and discover that paradise has been waiting for us all along, disguised as Plan B.
